Gas Natural Fenosa to Supply Gas to Girona

Gas Natural Fenosa, through its distributor Gas Natural Distribución, will invest €1.7 million to supply gas to the town of Castelló d’Empúries in Empuriabrava (Girona).

The power company has already started building the 9.3 kilometre network which will bring service to 5,900 households in the first year.

Castelló d’Empúries Mayor Xavier M. Sanllehí, and Girona Delegate for Gas Natural Distribución Joan Arimany presented the gasification project, which includes installing an LNG plant and supplying the first homes and businesses in Empuriabrava starting in September.

The leading power company in Catalonia

The power company distributes natural gas to 360 municipalities in Catalonia. With an investment of nearly €67 million, it added 40,889 new supply points to the Catalan network in 2013, bringing the total to 2.16 million. The penetration rate (supply points divided by the total number of households in Catalonia) is 54%, which is above the 27% average for Spain thanks to the company’s investment efforts over the last 20 years, during which time it has invested €1.4 billion to increase and improve its gas distribution business.

Gas Natural Fenosa, through its distribution company Gas Natural Distribución, invested €7.6 million in the Girona region in 2013. These investments mainly went on the construction of new networks and renewing and improving the existing network.
