Gas Natural Fenosa to Supply Gas to Portugal

The GAS NATURAL FENOSA wholesale marketing subsidiary, Gas Natural Comercializadora, has won an international public tender to supply natural gas to Portugal, tendered by the Portuguese company Transgâs Armanzenagem.

The Spanish multinational will provide 431 gigawatts (GWh) of natural gas per hour, which will fill the Carriço underground storage facility Caverna TGC-2, in the Pombal district.

The agreement between GAS NATURAL FENOSA and the Portuguese company is valued at around 15 million euros, and the supply will take place during April and May 2013 through the Badajoz-Campo Maior international connection.

This operation will enable the multinational energy firm to consolidate its presence in Portugal, where its gas and electricity marketing business is growing.

GAS NATURAL FENOSA has been operating in the Portuguese electricity market since 2004, where it has a current portfolio of 900 GWh in the industrial market and a market share of more than 4%. It has been marketing gas since 2008 and is firmly established there with a current portfolio in the industrial market of more than 5,000 GWh, making it the leading non-incumbent marketing firm in Portugal, with a market share of close to 15%.
