LNG throughput volumes at the Dutch Gate terminal rose 65.6 percent in the first quarter of this year as compared to the same period a year ago, according to the data released by the Port of Rotterdam on Thursday.

Total LNG throughput reached 234,000 mt in the first quarter, as compared to 142,000 mt in the same quarter last year.

“The LNG volume is small in absolute terms and fluctuates considerably,” the Port of Rotterdam said in its quarterly report.

The port added that Gate’s LNG throughput is expected to recover during the year.

Dutch first LNG terminal received 129,000 mt of the chilled fuel during the quarter, up by 128.6 percent from 2016.

Gate’s exports of previously imported LNG also rose 23.8 percent to 105,000 mt, the data showed.
