Russian giant Gazprom has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation for the Amur gas processing plant.

Under the contract, CPECC, a unit of China National Petroleum Corporation, will design, manufacture and supply equipment, as well as build booster compressor shops and gas dehydration, purification and fractionation units.

The contract, however, requires the involvement of Russian compressor equipment producers and a Russian specialized company responsible for supplying all the units with automation systems.

An agreement between Nipigaz, the general contractor managing the construction of the Amur GPP, and СРЕСС will be signed shortly, Gazprom said in its statement.

The Amur gas processing plant will have a design capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas per year, and according to Gazprom, will be the largest gas processing plant in Russia.
