Gazprom, CNPC closing in on Power of Siberia cross-border section deal

Head of the Russian giant Gazprom, Alexey Miller, met with China National Petroleum Corporation’s vice president Wang Dongjin on Thursday.

The parties discussed the progress of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline project that would carry Russian gas to China, Gazprom informed in a statement.

Miller and Dongjin focused on the preparation of the agreement on engineering and constructing the cross-border section of the pipeline and the submerged crossing under the Amur river, noting the deal is set to be signed by the end of this year.

The two companies signed a 30-year sale and purchase agreement in 2014 for the supply of 38 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia to China.
