Gazprom Germania Plans to Open More Gas Filling Stations

GAZPROM Germania GmbH already operates six natural gas filling stations around Germany and plans to open an additional four. The new stations are due to enter service by the end of 2013 and will be located in Berlin, Potsdam, Leipzig, and Öhringen.

GAZPROM Germania GmbH again commissioned erdgas mobil to construct the natural gas filling stations. erdgas mobil was responsible for realizing the four natural gas filling stations constructed in 2012.

“Natural gas as a motor fuel has huge potential to make mobility more efficient, more environmentally friendly, more cost-efficient, and safer both today and in the future. That’s why we’re continuing to invest in expanding our network of natural gas filling stations”, says Vyacheslav Krupenkov, Senior Managing Director of GAZPROM Germania GmbH.

There are also many other advantages of using natural gas as a motor fuel: Natural gas is available in large quantities, and combusting natural gas releases significantly less CO2, soot, and other harmful substances than with diesel or petrol-driven engines.

GAZPROM Germania GmbH is also investing in the infrastructure necessary to operate natural gas-driven vehicles throughout Europe: By the end of 2013, GAZPROM Germania GmbH will open another seven natural gas filling stations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in collaboration with its subsidiary VEMEX.

“And by doing so, GAZPROM Germania is making an important contribution to the development of green transport in Germany”, says Krupenkov.
