Gazprom hits gas in Sea of Okhotsk

Russian giant Gazprom made a new gas and condensate discovery in the Yuzhno-Lunskaya structure within the Kirinsky prospect in the Sea of Okhotsk.

The prospecting and appraisal well was drilled as part of the Sakhalin III project, Gazprom noted in its statement on Thursday.

As part of the Sakhalin III project, Gazprom is exploring three licence blocks, Kirinsky, Ayashsky, and Vostochno-Odoptinsky.

The company has already made Yuzhno-Kirinskoye and Mynginskoye fields discoveries within the Kirinsky block.

As soon as the well is tested and the geological information is analysed, the reserves estimates for the new field will be submitted to the Federal Subsurface Use Agency for the purpose of their approval and inclusion into the State Register of Mineral Reserves of the Russian Federation, Gazprom said.
