Rusian gas giant Gazprom and Azeri state energy company Socar have held talks regarding natural gas supplies to Azerbaijan.

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chief Executive of Gazprom, and his counterpart Rovnag Abdullayev took place in St. Petersburg on Sunday.

The parties discussed cooperation issues, paying attention to, among other things, natural gas supplies to Azerbaijan, Gazprom said in a statement.

Socar and Gazprom were previously reported to have discussed an increase of Russian natural gas supplies to Azerbaijan for about 3-5 billion cubic meters per year.

Gazprom Export and Azerbaijan Methanol Company signed back in 2015 a mid-term deal for up to 2 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
