Gazprom talks LNG, natural gas cooperation with Chinese partners

Gazprom’s head, Alexey Miller on Monday met with Liu Jian, president of CNOOC and CNPC’s chairman Wang Yilin to discuss cooperation in LNG and natural gas sectors.

According to Gazprom’s statement, during the meeting with CNOOC’s president, the parties discussed the potential for cooperation in the LNG sector and joint activities in hydrocarbon exploration.

CNOOC that has an exclusive right for prospecting, exploration, and production of oil and gas offshore China, is the country’s largest LNG importer.

The meeting with CNPC’s chairman emphasized the cooperation on planned gas supplies to China via the eastern and western routes as well as gas fired power generation and natural gas vehicles sector.

Gazprom has two separate agreements with CNPC to deliver natural gas from Russia to China in a total amount of 38 billion cubic meters per year.
