GDF SUEZ, BG Norge Pen Helicopter Contracts

On Thursday 28 February GDF SUEZ and BG Norge signed a long-term contract for the use of helicopter resources from Florø.

Under the agreement, BG will use the helicopter which GDF SUEZ has on contract with CHC Helicopter Service. At most, BG will need up to ten trips per week to the Knarr field in the period during drilling and comissioning activity.

Today we have the capacity to share our helicopter resources with other companies. A common use of existing resources provides a win-win situation for both parties. We have had a good process with BG towards signing and look forward to a successful partnership for years to come,” says Vibeke Mowatt, Leader Air and Marine Operations at GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS.

The contract has a value of NOK 45 million annually. The contract is valid from 1 June 2013 until 30 September 2015, with an option for a one year extention. In addition to helicopter flights, the agreement implies GDF SUEZ being responsible for flight scheduling, registration and monitoring of safety requirements for offshore personnel, all services at the heliport and round the clock duty.

“We are very pleased to have established this agreement with GDF SUEZ on utilizing the helicopter resources already in place in Florø. This is positive both for BG Norge, GDF SUEZ, CHC Helicopter Service  and Florø as a helicopter base,” says Rolf Pedersen, Knarr Logistics & Supply Base Manager, BG Norge.

As a result of the agreement, GDF SUEZ will increase it’s transport of passengers with 5000 people through Florø Airport every year.
