Genco Disposes of Three Handymax Oldies

US-based dry bulk specialist Genco Shipping and Trading sold three Handymax bulk carriers during the month of December, VesselsValue’s data shows.

The vessels in question are Genco Prosperity, Genco Wisdom and Genco Success, all of them built by Japanese shipbuilder Oshima in 1997.

Genco Prosperity and Genco Wisdom were sold to an unnamed Chinese buyer on December 21, 2016. Each of the two 47,200 dwt bulkers was sold for USD 3.2 million.

The third vessel, Genco Success, was sold for USD 2.8 million on December 14.

With a gross tonnage of 47,200 tons, the ships feature a length of 185 meters and a width of 31 meters.

Apart from the three bulkers, Genco’s fleet is currently comprised of 62 vessels, according to VesselsValue’s data.

Last month, Genco closed a new USD 400 million loan which will be used to refinance all of its existing credit facilities.

Genco said earlier that the new facility improved the terms and covenants across all of the firm’s refinanced facilities and simplified its capital structure.
