General Dynamics NASSCO delivers SEA-Vista’s third LNG-ready tanker

San Diego-based shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO on Wednesday delivered the Liberty, the third and final LNG-ready product tanker built for SEA-Vista.

The 610-foot-long, 50,000 deadweight ton, LNG-conversion-ready ECO Class tanker is the last vessel of three ECO-class tankers contract with SEA-Vista, a SEACOR Holdings and Avista Capital Partners company.

The vessel designed by DSEC, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of Busan, South Korea, features a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine and an optimized hull form.

The shipbuilder completed the sea trials at the end of last month.

NASSCO laid the keel for the Liberty in May this year, with the launching and christening taking place in December last year.

The company has previously delivered the first two ECO Class tankers for SEA-Vista, the Independence and the Constitution. Like its two sister vessels, it will be operated by Seabulk Tankers.

NASSCO noted that the Liberty was the seventh vessel in an eight-ship ECO Class tanker program being built for SEA-Vista and American Petroleum tankers.

The eighth ship in the series, the Palmetto State for APT is scheduled to be christened and launched on March 25, 2017, at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.
