Germany - MS 'PICTOR J' - The First Vessel at Jade-Weser-Port

MS “PICTOR J” of the shipping company Jüngerhans resident in Haren (Ems) has moored as the first vessel at the new container terminal of the Jade-Weser-Port in Wilhelmshaven. With this vessel loaded with 75 empty containers, water-side operating tests should start at the unique german deepwater port.

According to the information of the carrier of the terminal Eurogate, further 50 empty containers are already available at the site and another 50 are available in Bremerhaven. The modern container-feeder-vessel MS “PICTOR J” had been delivered by the Spanish shiyard Naval Gijon in January 2009. It possesses a deadweight capacity of 12,110 tons (TDW), a length of 139.90 m, a width of 22,80 m and a flotation depth of 8,70 m as well as storing positions for 925 TEU. The vessel features the high ice class E3 as well as 300 adapters for reefer container. It is actually employed under time charter at the Container-Feeder-Operator UNIFEEDER.
