Germany: Siemens Reports Delay on Sylwin 1 Transformer Platform

Germany Siemens Reports Delay on Sylwin 1 Transformer Platform

Siemens has announced that the connection of a German offshore wind farm in the North Sea will be delayed.

Namely, the latest soil tests showed that the Sylwin 1 transformer platform will need deeper mooring.

“The transformer platform for the wind farm Sylwin 1 off the coast of the island of Sylt will be delayed by roughly half a year,” Reuters cites Siemens spokesman as saying.

The connection of this platform is now scheduled for the second half of 2013.

Siemens has already paid EUR 500 million for the past delays to electricity transmission system operator Tennet, and will pay around EUR 500 million for the latest delay.
