GNF Opens LNG, CNG Service Station in Malaga, Spain

Gas Natural Fenosa and the Government of Andalusia introduced the first public service station supplying natural gas in Malaga. The LNG and CNG service station will be located at Avenida de Velázquez, 290 in the city of Malaga and will begin supplying these fuels in February 2014.

The project, with a budget of €800,000, will include a 60 m3 tank with a capacity to refuel approximately 200 lorries and 600 vehicles per year.

The local representative of Malaga’s Ministry of the Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, Marta Rueda, and the director of Mobility Solutions at Gas Natural Fenosa, José Ramón Freire, presented the first public service station in Malaga that will supply liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas for road transport. The event was also attended by the local representative of Vehicle Transportation Projects at Gas Natural Fenosa, Miguel Ángel Valladolid and the Andalusia representative of Gas Natural Servicios, David Valero.

The service station, which will be located at Avenida de Velázquez, 290, will have a 60 m3 tank with a capacity to refuel up to 200 lorries as well as a double CNG pump with capacity to refuel up to 600 vehicles a year.

The project, with a budget of €800,000, was supported by the Andalusian Energy Agency, an organisation attached to the Regional Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, which will provide nearly €98,000 as part of the Andalusia Energy Development Grant Programme.

This service station, which will come into operation in February 2014, is key for developing alternative fuel infrastructure. It will contribute to preventing around 62 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere each year.
