Hansa Hydrocarbons Limited’s (Hansa) founder and technical director Simon Lunn will present Hansa’s strategy on exploration in mature basins in Amsterdam on 28 October 2014.

The presentation is part of a recurring conference session on North Sea exploration and production during the two-day event Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference at Amsterdam RAI.

Lunn will explore the arguments for improved fiscal terms to attract new exploration capital to basins. By means of an example from Hansa’s portfolio, the Southern Permian Basin, a mature basin with over 265 trillion cubic feet of gas and 6 billion barrels of oil discovered to date, Lunn will illustrate that significant volumes of oil and gas remain to be found in the basin and what Hansa’s strategy on exploration in such a mature basin is.

Hansa is a full-cycle exploration and production company focused on the prolific gas basin of the Southern North Sea, with interests across the UK, Dutch and German offshore sectors. The company has built a material portfolio in two key areas – the Humber Approaches offshore UK, and an area straddling the Dutch/German median line some 40 km north of the Wadden Islands. Hansa recently successfully completed a large 3D seismic survey across the 4Quads license blocks G18, H16, M3 and N1, offshore Netherlands.

Simon Lunn has 30 years experience in the international E&P business. At BP and Enterprise Oil, he fulfilled a number of technical roles within the North Sea and international arenas and was responsible for several noteworthy discoveries, including Pierce and Banff. With his own company, Lunn Upstream Consultants he was successful in licensing a large exploration licence in Peru, which was successfully farmed out to ConocoPhilips.

At the conference session, Simon Lunn from Hansa Hydrocarbons will be joined by experts from the University of Aberdeen Business School, EBN and others, to discuss what is being spent this year on drilling, how new players expect to deliver value and what governments of countries bordering the North Sea do to establish an attractive E&P climate.
