Marine Energy Alliance (MEA)

Discover the potential of Marine Energy

The Marine Energy Alliance (MEA) is a 4-year European Territorial Cooperation project running from May 2018 to May 2022. The project is financially supported by Interreg North West Europe. Find out more about how the 9 partners within MEA are now supporting 41 SMEs with bespoke services to bring the ME concepts to a higher technical and commercial level. And how you can connect and collaborate.

The companies awarded by MEA get the opportunity to work closely together with a transnational team of Marine Energy experts on both the technical advancement of their technology, as well as the development of their commercial strategy and business plans. Each service offer is intended to put the company’s technology and business firmly on the road towards successful commercialization.

The goal of the Marine Energy Alliance (MEA) is to see as many technologies as possible reach market maturity, feeding power to the grid and contributing to the creation of new jobs in the sector, specifically NWE region. The Alliance sets up various events, workshops and pitching moments in order to bridge maritime and offshore sectors with marine energy developers and facilitate collaborations. The support of MEA extends beyond the delivery of free services and will ensure alignment with other initiatives to optimize synergies.

MEA partners are providing 121 tailored expert services which include: low TRL test planning and result interpretation, low TRL technology development and verification plan, numerical simulation and validation, technical design optimization, cost-of-system assessment and regulatory feasibility assessment. Commercial services include: Unique Selling Point (USP) definition, business case development, commercial strategy development, launching customer segment identification and investment & funding strategy development.

As some support tracks are nearing finalization an aftercare plan will be made enabling the technology developers to realize their ambitions and, more broadly, contribute to the coherent growth of the Marine Energy industry in general.

A ME Investment Portfolio blueprint is under development to highlight the potential of each technology, combine available financial mechanisms to mobilize public and private funding, and attract investors by spreading the investment risks across participating concepts.

Let’s connect and exchange ideas how you can be a part of this!
