High-Pressure Pipeline Delivers Gas to Kashima Thermal Power Station (Japan)

Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President : Mr. Tsuyoshi Okamoto, hereafter “Tokyo Gas”) has completed the construction work of high-pressure gas pipeline, “Kashima Waterfront Line” (hereafter “the Line”) on May 22, 2012, and today started full-scale gas supply to Kashima thermal power station of Tokyo Electric Power Company (hereafter “TEPCO”).

With the request from TEPCO, the Line has been under construction in Kamisu city, Ibaraki prefecture, since August 2011, in order for Tokyo Gas to supply city gas to the newly installed gas turbine generators on the site of TEPCO’s Kashima thermal power station.

Tokyo Gas carried out construction work to extend its high-pressure gas pipeline “Chiba Kashima Line”, which had been completed on March 2, 2012, by 4.4 kilometers from its terminus called Kashima governor station to TEPCO’s Kashima thermal power station.

Tokyo Gas has supplied city gas since June 6, 2012, for the trial operation for the newly installed gas turbine generators on the site of TEPCO’s Kashima thermal power station, and today started full-scale gas supply in accordance with the commencement of the newly installed gas turbine generators.

Tokyo Gas keeps exerting maximum effort to make a contribution on relaxing the supply and demand of electricity, as a business entity playing a role of energy supply in the Metropolitan region.
