Hong Kong-Flagged Bulker Arrested in Singapore

Bulk carrier SFL Spey has been detained in Singapore waters, according to Supreme Court of Singapore’s records.

The 34,000 dwt ship, owned by Bermuda-based Ship Finance International, was arrested for undisclosed reasons in the morning hours of April 18, 2017.

Focal Investigation & Security Agency has been appointed for security and investigation purposes related to the detention of the Handy bulk carrier which flies the flag of Hong Kong.

The 22,656 gross ton SFL Spey was built by Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Yangzijiang in 2011, according to information provided by VesselsValue.

As of April 18, the bulker’s AIS data show it is anchored in Singapore area.
