HSM Offshore Rolls Out Borssele Beta Topside

HSM Offshore BV has rolled out the topside for the Borssele Beta offshore high voltage substation at its yard in Schiedam, the Netherlands.

Once completed in 2020, the 700MW Borssele Beta will connect the 731.5MW Borssele 3 & 4 wind farm to the Dutch grid. The offshore construction on the wind farm started in October and the commissioning is scheduled for 2021.

The substation’s jacket foundation, also built by HSM Offshore, was installed at the site off Zeeland in May.

HSM Offshore was also in charge of building and delivering the Borssele Alpha substation. Completed back in September, the 700MW Borrssele Alpha will connect the Borssele 1+2 offshore wind farm to the Dutch grid.

The wind farm is located some 22 kilometres offshore Zeeland and will comprise 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines slated for commissioning in 2020.

The Borssele Alpha and Beta platforms are the first large-scale grid connections to be constructed under the National Energy Agreement for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands.
