Rocksource secures Borgland Dolphin

Rocksource has joined up with a five-strong consortium giving it access to rig capacity for drilling exploration wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Rocksource and the other companies have struck a deal to use the semisubmersible drilling rig Borgland Dolphin.

The contract is worth around US $602 million over three years and Rocksource has secured a total of 92 days of the contract period.

Rocksource said in a statement that it is in the process of building up a drilling campaign both in Norway and internationally.

“This rig capacity enables us to drill exploration wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf according to our strategy. At the same time it will also strengthen future applications for new licenses in Norway, as it gives us the tool we need to mature the portfolio as an operator,” the company said.
