Premier sticks with Fife area

One of the partners in the UK Fife field area operated by Amerada Hess which ceased production earlier this year has obtained the rights to redevelopment of the area.

Production ended at the Fife fields in May, and field partner Premier Oil has retained the rights to take over the field, subject to government approval,

Premier has a redevelopment option to recover what it calls “significant” remaining Jurassic and chalk potential in the field cluster.

The fields were being exploited by the Uisge Gorm FPSO, owned by Bluewater Industries which has already been assigned to move to the Ithaca Energy-operated Athena oil project.

Bluewater’s Uisge Gorm began operating on the Fife field in August 1995, and the Fergus field was added in 1997, then another tie-in, Flora, came onstream in October 1998 and a third, Angus, was added to the vessel’s production stream in October 2001.
