Barents base for Goliat

Goliat floating production project bidder Sevan Marine has lined up a location in Hammerfest in northern Norway as its logistics support base as part of its bid to win the competition to supply an FPSO for Eni’s Barents Sea development.

Sevan has selected Polarbase to become its shore base to support operations in the Goliat field in the event that it succeeds in the design competition, in which it is bidding against Aker Solutions.

Other companies are already using Polarbase to provide support for their operations in the Barents Sea including Halliburton, StatoilHydro, and Transocean.

A decision on the selection of the concept to provide the floating production unit for the Goliat development is expected in the fourth quarter this year, Sevan has indicated, and the company says it is in the process of concluding a “comprehensive study” for the use of its cylindrical platform design for Goliat.
