Legislators unite against offshore drilling bill

Two U.S. senators joined forces with Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6) at the Long Branch shore last week to oppose legislation that would permit oil drilling off the coast of New Jersey.

The House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would open up large areas of the nation’s coasts to oil and gas drilling and would lift all leasing bans beyond 100 miles from state shores, according to a press release from Pallone’s office.
