Crane supplier backs out of JNPT deal

The congestion that has plagued India’s largest container gateway, Jawaharlal Nehru port, right through the 2007-2008 financial year looks set to continue in the new year that started on April 1.

Three super post-panamax rail-mounted quay cranes, ordered from Malaysia’s IMPSA at a cost of Rs1.05bn ($26.3m), were to have arrived by the end of May, before the start of Mumbai’s monsoon.
