ThyssenKrupp offers $5.26 billion for Dofasco

German steel giant ThyssenKrupp AG has gained a stranglehold on takeover target Dofasco Inc. with a new blockbuster bid of $5.26 billion and a guarantee of a much bigger consolation prize if it loses the battle for the Canadian industrial icon.
