Husky Energy Moves Henry Goodrich Rig (Canada)

Canada’s energy company Husky Energy provides an update on the suspended operations on Henry Goodrich following a near miss/dropped object incident that occurred on August 23.

Husky Energy is moving the drill rig Henry Goodrich to a near-shore location in Conception Bay. She is currently under tow and should arrive in three days.

Henry Goodrich, owned by one of the largest drilling contractors in the world, Transocean, is a Sonat/Mitsui SES 5000 design propulsion assisted semi-submersible drilling unit capable of operating in harsh environments and water depths up to 2,000 ft using 18¾in 15,000 psi BOP and 21in OD marine drilling riser. It was built in 1985.

The rig has been under contract with Husky Energy since 2010. The current contract, at a dayrate of USD 341,000, expires in January 2014.
