Japanese Inpex Corporation has informed that the commissioning of Ichthys LNG Project’s Central Processing Facility (CPF) Ichthys Explorer required for production start-up has been completed.

This milestone marks the completion of the necessary commissioning of all key onshore and offshore facilities for production start-up, Inpex explained in a statement on Thursday.

Inpex added that the project is scheduled to start production of gas from the wellhead upon conducting final safety verifications, and will thereafter proceed with the shipment of cargoes towards the end of the first half of the current fiscal year.

The project was previously expected to start-up by the end of March but it has since then experienced delays.

The necessary commissioning of Ichthys LNG Project’s first train (natural gas liquefaction facility) at the onshore gas liquefaction plant, FPSO facility Ichthys Venturer, and subsea production systems were completed for production start-up in March but the CPF was not commissioned until now.
