Image of the Day: Blue Marlin Heads to Port Angeles

Coast Guard crews escort vessel Blue Marlin to Port Angeles, Wash.

The image shows the U.S. Coast Guard crews escorting the 674-foot Curacao-flagged semi-submersible heavy lift ship Blue Marlin to its anchorage location in Port Angeles, Wash., on April 17th, 2015.

The ship is designed to transport very large semi-submersible drilling rigs above the transport ship’s deck, and is equipped with 38 cabins to accommodate 60 people, a workout room, sauna and swimming facilities.

Blue Marlin and her sister ship MV Black Marlin comprise the Marlin class of heavy lift ships.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, Clallam County and City of Port Angeles boatcrews were present during the arrival of the vessel.
