Image of the Day: Get Ready for Tropical Storm

Get Ready for Tropical Storm

The photo has been taken before a tropical storm by Bourbon Orca’s workers located in the Mediterranean Sea.

The workers said that in just a few minutes the wind went from 10 knots to over 50 knots.

Bourbon Orca is currently moored at the port of Marsaxlokk, in the south-eastern part of Malta.

A tropical storm is an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds between 34 knots (63 km/h) and 64 knots (119 km/h).

At this point, the distinctive cyclonic shape starts to develop, although an eye is not usually present. Government weather services first assign names to systems that reach this intensity (thus the term named storm).
