Image of the Day: Polar Light Show

This phenomenon in the sky is known as Aurora, which is a natural light display in the sky. Aurora can be seen in the high latitude regions, like the Arctic and the Antarctic.

A region displaying an aurora at any given time is known as the auroral oval, a band which is displaced towards the nightside of the Earth.

The photo has been taken from the Atlantic Offshore’s Platform Supply Vessel Ocean Pride during her journey through the North Sea.
