India: Cochin Port Dredging Progresses Well

Cochin Port Dredging Progresses Well

Anil Singh, senior vice-president and managing director at DP World, stated that the Cochin port is expected to complete dredging in the next two months and that will give a channel depth of 14.5 metres to handle bigger vessels.

“The dredging of the shipping channel at Cochin port and relaxation of the cabotage policy are critical aspects for a successful transshipment terminal,” he added.

The maritime gateway to peninsular India, Cochin is the fastest growing logistic centre emerging in to a major International transshipment terminal.

An all-weather natural port, located strategically close to the busiest international sea routes, Cochin is promoting a major liquid terminal, bulk terminal and maritime industries in its port based SEZs.
