Indonesia’s Bontang LNG to have up to 32 uncommitted cargoes available in 2017

Indonesia’s Bontang LNG export plant expects there will be up to 32 uncommitted cargoes from the facility in 2017.

The number of uncommitted cargoes is one-fifth of the plant’s estimated production of around 160 cargoes this year. The uncommitted LNG will be sold in spot market, Reuters cited Bontang LNG’s chief executive Salis Aprilian as saying.

Indonesia is oversupplied with LNG and had 63 uncommitted cargoes of the chilled fuel for 2017 delivery from the Tangguh and Bontang projects, the report said.

The Bontang LNG facility is currently running four of its eight liquefaction trains.

The LNG plant is operated by PT Badak Natural Gas Liquefaction in which Pertamina has a controlling 55 percent stake. Vico Indonesia owns 20 percent in the company, Total has a 10 percent stake and a consortium of Japanese buyers named Japan Indonesia LNG owns a 15 percent stake in the LNG producer.
