A new recycling scheme for special lashing belts used in car carriers was established today by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, also known as MOL.

What is already known is that when lashing belts reach the end of their useful lives, they are treated as industrial waste, but MOL decided to deliver them to a recycling company located in Oita Prefecture, where they will all be recycled.

MOL’s recycling system works in this way: the lashing belts will be separated into plastic and metal parts. The plastics will be turned into a secondary fuel, and the metal will be turned into scrap that can be reused.

The entire process is presented in stages in the provided inforhgraphic.
