Inocean Unveils Mini Version of BW Athena FPSO (Norway)

Inocean Presents BW Athena Model (Norway)

A short while ago BW Athena arrived the UK North Sea field location – another step towards first oil. Yesterday a ceremony took place at Inocean when a mini version of the vessel was unveiled.

In March 2010, BW Offshore signed a letter of intent for the FPSO BW Carmen with Ithaca Energy for work at the Athena field in the North Sea. In April, a team at Inocean was already at work determining if the vessel could be utilized as planned. As naval architect Inocean has been responsible for major parts of the hull and topside structural engineering, including: Weight, Stability and Hydrodynamics; Hull lengthening w/turret integration; Green sea protection; Lifetime extension of hull; Module supports and under deck reinforcements and Crane foundations.

“For Inocean It has been a long and exciting travel where stability, watertight integrity, global strength and green sea protection have been the most challenging issues,” says Jonas Rekstad, Project Manager of Inocean.

“I’m glad it has come to a successful end thanks to the dedicated effort of everyone being involved in the project. The miniature model of BW Athena will of course be highly visible in our offices at Aker Brygge in Oslo.”
