Iran can up daily gas exports to Iraq to 35 mcm

National Iranian Gas Company can supply Iraq with 35 million cubic meters of gas on a daily basis given a new amendment to the gas export contract signed by the two neighboring Asian states.

“Based on the original contract for the export of Iran’s natural gas to Iraq, Iran was supposed to export 25 million cubic meters per day,” director for international affairs of NIGC, Azizollah Ramezani said in a statement.

With the new amendment, Iran’s gas supplies to the neighboring country will be increased to 35 million cubic meters per day, he added.

The amount will be delivered to Iraq’s city of Basra mainly for generation of electricity during 5 hot months of the year, said Ramezani.

The country is also set to offer technical, financial, and executive training to Iraqi personnel, Ramezani added.
