Iran: Drilling at South Pars Phase 14 Starts This Week

 

Drilling operation of the first well at the South Pars gas field phase 14 will be started this week, the operator of the South Pars gas field phase 14, Mr. Galedari announced here.

He went on to say that drilling appraisal well of the phase is scheduled to start at the end of the current week, which is three months earlier than the previous planning, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

He noted that 44 appraisal wells would be drilled in this phase of the South Pars.

Referring to toughness of starting drilling before setting up the jackets in waters, he said: Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has undertaken the risk of using new methods to accelerate exploration and production from the remaining phases of the South Pars gas field and to materialize the oil industry’s target on completion of the project on schedule in a 35 months period.

Expressing satisfaction with the process of setting up jackets at the offshore sector of the phase, he stated that setting up the jackets had progressed by 40%.

On the progress of operation in onshore sector, he noted that setting up the steel structure of the project will be started late next month.

It’s worth mentioning that the onshore’s pipelines of the phase will be arrived up to the end of the year 2011 by the consortium that is responsible for development of the project.
