Iran Inaugurates New Phases of South Pars

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has officially launched five new phases of the South Pars gas field.

President Rouhani inaugurated the phases 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 of the giant gas filed located in the Persian Gulf region. The start of the new five phases represents an investment of USD 20 billion.

During the inauguration ceremony president Rouhani said: “Today, we are happy that this project is being put to operation with the help of our oil industry’s capable experts.”

According to National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Iran’s gas recovery in the South Pars has become equal to Qatar’s.

South Pars gas field is the world’s largest gas field which is located on the joint border line between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

Iranian section of this field is considered the most significant source of energy in Iran.
