Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline Progresses

Construction work on a section of the pipeline that will export gas from Iran to Pakistan has advanced by 20 percent, managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC), Alireza Gharibi announced.

According to the report of the public relations of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), he said that this section of the seventh Trans-Iranian gas pipeline stretches 320 kilometers from Iranshahr in the Sistan and Baluchistan Province to Pakistan’s border.

He went on to say that, the Pakistani side should lay 700 kilometers of pipeline for importing and distributing gas at home, adding that Pakistan wants Iranian contactors to take responsibility for laying 200 to 250 kilometers of the pipeline inside the country.

Gharibi said that launching Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline not only will deepen friendly relations between the two countries but will reinforce security in the area.
