Iran Ready for Return of Global Shipping Lines

Global shipping companies may return to Iranian ports once economic sanctions imposed on the country by the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and the US are lifted, the local Tasnim News Agency reported Mohammad Saeednejad, Iran’s deputy minister of road and urban development, as saying.

Saeednejad, who is also the head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, told the reporters on Sunday that the recent framework agreement over Iran’s nuclear program created a positive atmosphere, enabling the international shipping companies to return to Iran.

The agreement was signed in Lausanne last Thursday by the permanent members of the Security Council (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France) and Germany (P5+1) on one side,  and Iran.

The framework stipulates that all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran will be lifted.
