Revenue from Gas Exports to Reach USD 14 Bil by 2016, Says Official

Iran’s gas exports’ revenue will hit 14 billion dollars by 2016, director of Finance Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Piroz Monjezi said.

“Currently the company exports 8 billion cubic meters of gas annually,” he said, adding that with regard to recent agreements with some neighboring countries including Pakistan, Iraq and Persian Gulf countries, Iran’s volume of gas exports will rise to 35 billion cubic meters by 2016.

Referring to the importance of gas exports for making revenue, he stressed on boosting investments in gas sector, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

He stated that the company had various projects under way including construction of 11th trans-Iranian gas pipeline which not only would reinforce domestic infrastructures but would boost gas exports.

Monjezi underlined implementation of infrastructural projects with the aim of realization of export targets saying the projects will become profitable in a short period.
