Iran Shorijeh Gas Storage Facility Nearing Completion

Masoud Samivand, Managing director of Iran’s Natural Gas Storage Company (NGSC), said Shorijeh gas reservoir as Middle East’s biggest gas storage facility is nearing completion and storing would start in the near future.

According to the report of the public relations of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Samivand said that by completing Shorijeh reservoir, which is the second economic epic in the field of storing gas in the country, Iran would claim world’s 5th place in the field of storing natural gas.

The Shorijeh gas storage facility can provide sufficient gas to meet the consumption in the Northern and Eastern provinces of the country.

The storage facility could take 10 million cubic meters of gas per day in the first phase while will yield 20 million cubic meters per day when it is needed.

Upon completion of its second phase, the facility will be able to take 20 million cubic meters and deliver 40 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Gas storage capacity of Shorijeh facility stands at 4.8 billion cubic meters.

Shorijeh gas storage facility as one of most important and strategic gas storage projects of the country is located east of Iran.
