Iran to export gas to Iraq by next July

Construction of the pipeline, which aims to transfer Iranian natural gas to Iraq, is underway, and the exports will probably start by the next July, Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister and managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji said.

Currently more than 25 percent of this 48-inch gas transmission pipeline has been completed”, he was quoted as saying by ECO news agency.

He went on to say that according to initial agreement, Iran will deliver 25 million cubic meters of gas per day to Iraq.

With the progress in implementation of the construction of the gas pipeline in the two countries, it is expected that gas injection and the launch of the pipeline could occur by May 22 to June 21, 2013,” Owji said.
