Minister of Petroleum: Iran to Export Gas to Iraq in 18 Months

Iran is constructing a pipeline to pump gas to Iraq, adding the pipeline is expected to be ready in 18 months, Minister of Petroleum, Rostam Qasemi announced.

According to the report of the public relations of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), he said that completion of this gas pipeline will pave the way for exporting 20 million cubic meters of gas to Iraq to feed its power plants.

“A deal for Iran to export gas to Pakistan has been finalized”, he told a news conference on the sidelines of the Tehran Oil Show.

He went on to say that, Iran has constructed its tranche of the pipeline up to the southeastern city of Iranshahr.

He also stated that Iran will begin delivering natural gas to Pakistan as of 2014.
