Italy: Another Eight Bodies Found on Shipwrecked Costa Concordia

Italy - Another Eight Bodies Found on Shipwrecked Costa Concordia

Another eight bodies have been found on the shipwrecked Costa Concordia as search teams expanded their activities in the Italian cruise liner’s submerged decks.

Among the four bodies recovered on Wednesday was the body of an Italian five-year-old girl who was the youngest passenger. Reportedly, the bodies were found in an underwater part of the ship known as bridge four.

Poor weather conditions have prevented the rescuers from the Italian fire brigade to recover the other four bodies.

The number of people recovered from the Jan 13 disaster has now been raised to 25, with another seven people still missing.

The search of underwater deck areas was suspended on January 31 due to bad weather which caused fears that the unstable cruiser could place the search teams in jeopardy.

Operation directed towards pumping the vessel’s fuel reserves off the vessel started on February 12.
