Jack-up West Elara lands more Statoil work

North Atlantic Drilling Ltd (NADL) has been awarded a contract extension from Statoil for the jack-up rig West Elara.

The offshore driller informed on Friday that the contract is for a firm one-well extension plus one optional well.

The work will start in direct continuation of West Elara’s existing contract with Statoil and the backlog for the firm portion of the extension is estimated to be $10 million.

West Elara was constructed at Jurong Shipyard in Singapore and was delivered in 3Q, 2011. It was designed to operate in harsh environments, in water-depths up to 150 m with drilling depths down to 10,670 m.

The rig hasĀ been working for Statoil since delivery.
