Japan: April LNG Imports Up

Japan’s LNG imports reached 6.906 million mt in April, a rise of 14.9 percent compared to a year earlier, according to preliminary data released today by the finance ministry.

Japan, the world’s largest LNG importer, imported 8.126 million mt of LNG in March, up 21,8 percent from a year before.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
