Japan: March LNG Imports Rise 21.8 Percent

Japan’s LNG imports reached 8.126 million mt in March, a rise of 21,8 percent compared to a year earlier, according to preliminary data released today by the finance ministry.

Japan, the world’s largest LNG importer, imported 7.67 million mt of LNG in February, up 22,5 percent from a year before.

The country’s monthly LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
