Japan power companies use less LNG in July

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) use by Japan’s power companies declined by 2.1 percent in July when compared to the same month a year ago, the preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry shows.

The power companies consumed 4.82 million tonnes of LNG in July as compared to 4.93 million tonnes recorded in the same month last year.

Total generation by the power companies reached 85.6 billion kWh in July.

Power generated by LNG stood at 35.9 billion kWh in the month under review.
