Japan: Tokyo Gas May Sales Slightly Up

Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas of Japan, for the month of May 2012 came to about 1,037.962 million m3, slightly increased by 0.2% than that in May 2011.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 286.241 million m3, up 3.0% from May 2011 while in the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), with the increased operation rate on the part of existing facilities, etc., the volume increased by 5.2% to 183.413 million m3.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 402.191 million m3, down 4.0% from last year.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 166.117 million m3, up 0.7% from May 2011 due to the increased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

The total gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April to May 2012 was 2,263.369 million m3, up by 2.3%.
